Learning and Leading

Fluency- the ability to generate lots of ideas
Flexibility- The ability to look at a question or a topic from a different angle
Originality- The quality that generates unique or unusual products
Elaboration- A way of adding details, filling in the gaps, embellishing, and completing a creative idea

I definitely struggle most in originality.  I have an extremely difficult time coming up with a new product by myself.  I love hearing about others ideas and helping them elaborate.  However, coming up with the original product does not come naturally to me.  One person who is incredibly original is my Aunt Abbie.  My aunt comes up with a new product every day.  Unfortunately, my aunt never attempts to peruse any of her creative ideas.  I want to acquire this originality skill and take advantage of my ideas.

Wallwisher would greatly enhance a class’s flexibility.  On this site, a teacher will post a topic and the students are free to leave comments.  The comments would include different strategies, questions, and points of view on how to understand or accomplish the teachers post.  This website would also help in elaboration.  The comments would consist of the students creative ideas.  These ideas and detailed responses would then help other students understand how to solve a problem.

As a speech therapist, Corkboard would be useful.  Corkboard is a place where students can write down whatever they wish to share to the class.  This would be a great way for students to ask questions anonymously.  I would address the questions each time the children came in to see me.  Using corkboard I could I could see where the students struggle without embarrassing them.

What Sparks Creativity

Boundless Creative Photography Ideas 29 Boundless Creative Photography Ideas
This photograph sparks creative thinking.  It allows you to look through the eyes of another.  The mesh of blurry color also forces an individual to craft what the blur represents.  Every person may have a different opinion of what the background is, or why the photographer shot it this way.

Horizon Response

I believe that technology has spoiled today’s generation.  The article states that people expect to work, learn and study wherever and whenever.  This sense of immediacy is a direct result of an increase in technology.  Looking around, teens and adults are constantly on their phones, ipads, and other technologies.  Likewise, although technology makes communication easier, it allows individuals to hide behind a computer screen or text message.  As a result, the majority of people in today’s generation lack basic face-to-face social skills.  I do admit that I enjoy having easy access to all information, but I do not think that people should rely on their technologies to get by in life.   In order for libraries to stay in business, they must adapt to the new technologies.  Libraries should sell computerized books other technological based products.

Creativity

In my sorority we have a tradition called "Big Little."  Every year each sophomore chooses one freshman who they have the greatest connection with.  That freshman is then claimed to be the sophomores "Little" and is part of the sorority family.  On "Big Little" night, the sophomores throw a party for their little with food and gifts.  For my little, I decided to cut out our sorority letters and decorate them.  I painted flowers and colorful    designs all over the letters.  I also included a couple pictures of the two of us.  I thought decorating our sorority letters was creative and I hope that my little appreciates them.

Theory of Learning

Theory of Learning:
I do not believe that there is one correct system of teaching.  Every student is different and comprehends information differently.  I do agree, however, that technology can speed up a child’s learning process.  Today’s internet grants easy access to information that experts, teachers, and simple citizens have posted online.  Technology such as the internet can also enhance communication between students and researchers.  The internet is where an individual can project his or her ideas and knowledge for others to see and learn from.  Unfortunately, the internet does not always contain accurate information; therefore, students should find other methods to obtain information as well.
Cooperating and working with peers was the most effective learning procedure for me.  After reading the article, I also believe that constructive learning is important.  It is human nature to make observations and to be puzzled by the unknown.  It is also natural to seek out answers that explain anything questionable.  In order to find such answers, I believe that humans rely on personal knowledge.  More importantly, humans also find solutions through a peers experience as well.  One example would be my tennis experience.  I played soccer and therefore understood the concept of hustle.  I was not, however, familiar with how to hold a tennis racket correctly.  Luckily, my sister Amanda was an avid tennis player and taught me the correct grip.  Combining my own experience with my sister’s tennis tips, I was able to master this once unfamiliar sport.
